Border Security & Immigration

Most of us can trace our lineage to immigrants who came to America seeking a better life. Immigrants built America and we embrace our prosperity as a result. While we celebrate our country’s diversity, we also recognize that key parts of our current immigration system need to be addressed.

We have a pathway to citizenship, and I was proud to see this first hand when I recently attended a Naturalization Ceremony. Candidates followed the legal process, and are now proud citizens of the United States. Our laws, our processes, need to be enforced. Adherence to our current immigration policy is necessary to ensure continued prosperity and national security.

The federal government can do more in preventing drug cartels and human smugglers from crossing the border. We must secure our borders in order to protect our state from individuals entering illegally. Currently, the federal government has not fulfilled its most basic responsibility. Arizonans send a large number of dollars to the federal government to do this job and sadly, this effort has been ineffective. I will work with our Congressional delegation to not abdicate local responsibility and defend Arizonans’ safety.
